Important point to note:
-
You will need the Domain Name Server also known as DNS. It is
a set of four numbers separated by periods like: 202.54.1.30.
Now you are ready and almost there. Please read the information
carefully and also check out the images which are in the links.
Click the links and images will open in a new window. They help
a lot in understanding your configuration.
-
Go to the
Apple Menu -> Control Panels -> TCP/IP. This action will open
the TCP/IP Control Panel.
-
From the first popup menu "Connect Via" select PPP.
-
From the second popup menu "Configure" select Using PPP server.
-
Selecting PPP server will make IP Address, Subnet Mask and Router
Address disabled and you will see " <will be supplied by server>"
in front of each of these fields.
-
In the Name server addr. fill in the DNS i;e the numbers provided
to you by VSNL. The first number is primary and the second number
is secondary.
-
All the information that you will require is this. You can leave
the rest blank. Some of you may wonder, as to how the picture
shows a button called Select Hosts file, Implicit Search Path:
etc.
-
You can get these options by going to the Edit menu -> User Mode.
Change the user mode to advanced, if you are sure that you can
fill in the information.
-
These advanced settings are not required as a hard and fast rule.
You will be able to connect even without them.
-
If you have gone to the advanced settings, you can fill in the
Starting domain name as "vsnl.net.in"
Close the TCP/IP control Panel window and save when prompted.
Now you are ready to configure the PPP Control Panel. Remember
you should configure the Modem Control Panel before moving on
to PPP Control Panel.
Click here to go on to the PPP Control Panel.
